I have been looking at Microsoft CRM and reading newsgroup posts. MSCRM has a lot going for it but has a couple of major flaws. The first is the lack of a feature to generate letters from within the CRM application. It is possible to do this with Email but most SME users will still rely heavily upon traditional written letters to send to contacts and accounts.
Since the basic processes are incorporated in the mailmerge feature I can't
understand why the developers have not gone the extra mile and allowed
the document generation for single users. Anyone should look at
SalesOutlook to see how it should be implemented.

Microsoft
Corporation Recognizes SalesOutlook, Inc. Value
Contribution
SalesOutlook, Inc.
Certified In Information Worker Solutions Competency

Roswell, GA - 7/20/2004
Today SalesOutlook, Inc. is pleased to
announce that Microsoft Corporation recently recognized
its value contribution to the Microsoft Office and
Microsoft Exchange user community by certifying
SalesOutlook, Inc. in the Information Worker
Productivity Solutions Competency. Under the terms of
Microsoft's revamped Partner Program, this certification
is granted only to organizations that have demonstrated
exceptional skill in developing collaboration-enabling
business solutions using Microsoft technology that
improve the productivity and computing experience of
information workers. With this certification comes the
coveted Microsoft Certified Partner status for
Microsoft's 2005 fiscal year that began July 1, 2004.
"SalesOutlook has once again proven
its pioneering effort by becoming one of the first
Microsoft Certified Partners in the Outlook CRM arena to
achieve the Microsoft Competency for Information Worker
Productivity Solutions,” states Gary Cawley, President
and CEO of SalesOutlook, Inc. Mr. Cawley explains, "This
certification enables SalesOutlook, Inc. to maintain a
closer relationship with Microsoft. It also enables our
team to gain access to valuable information so that our
people are better informed of new technologies and are
properly equipped to serve our customers' business needs
with SalesOutlook CRM and the customer management
solutions we develop for the Microsoft Outlook, Office
and Exchange Server platforms."
Nick Latsos, Vice President of Sales
for SalesOutlook, Inc. shares his thoughts and
excitement about this accomplishment. He states, "Since
its formation in 1998, SalesOutlook, Inc. has
consistently delivered exceptional CRM functionality
that leverages the Outlook, Office and Exchange Server
platforms. Proof positive that SalesOutlook CRM is a
leader in the Outlook CRM and Exchange Server CRM space
is that SalesOutlook, Inc. and its products have been
consistently recognized by Microsoft and leading
technology sites like MSD2D.com." Mr. Latsos adds, "In
1999, version 1.0 of our product was named a Must-See
Application at the Microsoft Exchange Conference. In
2002 and again in 2004, SalesOutlook CRM was named the
Best of CRM in the Microsoft Exchange category of the
People's Choice Awards sponsored by MSD2D.com. Today,
being certified by Microsoft in the Information Worker
Productivity Solutions Competency further cements the
fact that our Common Sense CRM products and methodology
are right on target and meet the needs of today's CRM
software user very well."
In conjunction with the achievement of
the new Microsoft Information Worker Productivity
Solutions Competency, SalesOutlook, Inc. is announcing
the launch of its low-cost extension to Microsoft
Outlook Web Access (OWA) that enables users to manage
customer information such as Accounts, Contacts and
Notes right inside their OWA session.
When a SalesOutlook Web Access user
adds or updates account-related information in OWA, it
is immediately available to every SalesOutlook Web
Access and SalesOutlook CRM user in the organization.
With prices starting as low as USD $99.00 per user, it
is a tool that any organization can afford to implement
for every information worker that has a Microsoft
Exchange Server 2002 / 2003 mailbox. Overloaded IT
Professionals will appreciate the quick deployment,
centralized administration and limited support
requirements since no software or component installs are
required on the client computer other than Microsoft
Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
"Providing the ability for individuals
needing occasional access to the CRM system's data is
something that our customers have asked for time and
time again. Their requirements are that the tool must be
very easy to use so that no training is required, and it
must deploy with a zero footprint on the client. IT
Administrators do not have time to install stuff on each
computer and they do not want to get bogged down with a
lot of remote user support. They simply want to have the
user open a web browser, login to the system and start
using it. Most of all, they don't want to pay a lot of
money" states Dave Asta, Vice President of Development
and Chief Operations Officer for SalesOutlook, Inc. as
he describes the new SalesOutlook Web Access product.
Mr. Asta concludes, "We responded with exactly what they
want: a $99.00 tool that does the basics and is so
simple it requires no training. The users just use it
after opening their IE browser and logging into OWA.
Anyone can afford this tool and will benefit by
implementing it."
